7 Bike Shops from Macedonia - http://www.pinkbike.com/bikeshop/listgroup/?country=Macedonia

snow riding - http://www.modern-radio.com/board/t.php?id=41016

• The more tread on your tyres, the better. You can ride in snow on slicks, but I wouldn't choose to. If you have a mountain bike, with chunky off-road treads, this is the day for it.

• Let some air out of your tyres, whatever sort they are. Ride them soft: you'll get more grip.

• It's natural, when you're a bit anxious about conditions, to ride leaning forward and tense, with your hands on the brakes. But try to relax the hands and arms, and keep your weight back.

• As in any slippery conditions (such as very wet roads), do your braking early and as much as possible in a straight line. Definitely only use the front brake in this way; otherwise, use the back brake more. And you can also use the back brake to test the amount of adhesion you have.

• Try to steer "with your hips" rather than your hands: in other words, make directional changes progressively and with your whole mass on the bike, rather than by sudden sharp steering inputs at the handlebars.

• As snow gets grooved by car tyres and refreezes, you can encounter rutted tracks and momentary "tramlining" effects. Deal with this by allowing the front wheel of the bike to go where it wants; again, keep your weight back, stay relaxed and don't be too ambitious about your speed.

• Mostly, on British roads, the snow is cleared or turns to slush quickly, but beware of transitions from snowy side streets to clear roads: this is where you're most likely to encounter ice or tricky ruts.

• I generally ride around town with some sort of hat, rather than a helmet. But in the snow, I'll wear a helmet – there's just a little more likelihood of a slip. Most likely, it would be slow-speed and harmless, but I'd factor in the extra risk by wearing a helmet.

• Unless you have mudguards (with good clearance!), wear old clothes: that slimy black slush is perplexingly indelible and a dirty stripe up your arse is not a good look in the office.

• The most dangerous time, as with any analogous activity (skiing, skating, downhill mountainbiking etc), is when you get over-confident. The day I got a little cocky on the back roads in the Green Mountain State, I found myself sliding down the road on my butt. So hey, what do I know?

Skopje vs London vs Kopenhagen

NICHES+ Champion City: Skopje
Innovation for cycling (реканско сеирџиска патека)

Skopje, the capital of Macedonia is 24 km long and 12 km wide at its longest sections. It is situated in a plane surrounded by mountains. The territory is 1818 km2 and the number of inhabitants is 506 926.
The transport system of Skopje is shaped by the East-West extension along the Vardar River. The capital has 3 entries (national highways) and a transportation centre including the railway station and the bus stations for interurban (+international) and local bus transport.

The bike infrastructure is well developed along the main road network and a unique facility is the 10 km-long, wide bikeway on both sides of the Vardar River. The latter is used mostly for recreational cycling. The network
is not completed yet in the centre, but the first part was built. The total length of bike paths in the city was 48.5km in 2004 and the share of biking was 1.9% in 2003. In the year 2004, Skopje developed a bicycle master plan.
The city’s activities for implementing the plan are focused on the improvement of the infrastructure and on the promotion of cycling.

in London there are currently four cycle superhighways with a fifth one currently being consulted on. TfL has said it plans to open 12 cycle superhighway routes by 2015 http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/cycling/15831.aspx

How much does the Cycle Super Highways cost?

The 26 routes, with overall 300 km of Cycle Super Highways are budgeted to cost 413 million Danish kroner for the base solution, and 875 million kroner for the ideal solution. It costs an average of 1,4 million kroner (basis solution) and 2,9 million kroner (ideal solution) to construct one km of bicycle tracks (2,5-3,9m eur). In comparison, it costs 70-100 million kroner (9,4-13,4m eur) to construct one km motorway [the municipality of Copenhagen, Centre for Traffic and Road Directorate].

Do you know in advance that the project will attract more and new cyclists (from other countries, or similar projects)?

Yes, in London, a similar project to Cycle Super Highways has increased the usage of some of the lines by up to 200 per cent. Their starting point is obviously much lower than that in the regional area of Copenhagen, where a lot of people already bike regularly. Therefore, our ambition is to have 20 percent more riders on the Albertslund route in 2015. If this objective is met, it will mean that each year, one million kilometers less would be driven in motorized vehicles.

What is the purpose and success criteria for Cycle Super Highways?

The aim is to create a competitive transportation alternative to cars and public transport, which in the end, should result in the region getting more bike commuters. It is beneficial both for the individual and for society as a whole, because cyclists pollute less, are less noisy, do not waste time in traffic jams, are healthier and it contributes to better urban life and atmosphere. In short, the aim is to future-proof infrastructure in the region.

Who are the new riders – that is, who can you even "convert" to take the bicycle when so many people already bike in Copenhagen?

Cycle Super Highways is designed for commuters who have between 5 and 20 kilometers to work or school. Here, we find the potential to be the greatest. We expect that those who commute by train and car will see a serious opportunity to switch the car - or train ride - out with a bike ride, maybe not every day, but perhaps, once in a while. And finally, it is also an offer to those who already bike daily, giving them a better route.
